Hannah Graeper Carver

Hannah Graeper Carver is a self taught potter specializing in finely decorated, colorful pottery. She began her training in Ithaca, NY where she took classes from and apprenticed with several wonderful Finger Lakes potters. She later received a bachelors of Arts and Science from Binghamton University and managed the student Pottery and Craft Studio. From there, Hannah moved to Robbinsville, NC where she worked for three years as a studio assistant at Yellow Branch Pottery before returning to the Finger Lakes to set up her current studio outside of Trumansburg, NY.

Hannah's work is made of stoneware clay and is intended for daily use. When she decorates her pots, she leaves a large part of the outside un-glazed and then draws, or trails, fine lines of glaze over the bare surface. The result is a textured, highly decorated piece of pottery, most often covered in orderly, repeating patterns. She use an electric kiln to fire all her work and only uses food safe glazes.
