Bob Nagel has been carving since he was a Boy Scout in Western New York. He is self taught and often works in the Scandinavian style taught by Harley Refsal. Most of his pieces are carved from locally harvested basswood. After two years of curing in the wood shed, he machines the wood into stock that can be roughed out on the band saw. The individual figures are then hand carved with knives, gouges and veiners.
