Handwork Art Grant

The mission of the Handwork Art Grant is to support an individual living in Tompkins and adjacent counties who is interested in pursuing a career in craft or visual art.

The grant gives financial support for people who cannot afford classes, a residency, workshop, or other educational opportunities related to their education in visual art or craft. It also offers a showing of the recipient’s work at Handwork. 

Grant Overview and Eligibility

Grants up to $1,000 will be awarded to individuals who:

1. Have a desire to pursue a career in visual art or craft

2. Express a financial need

3. Demonstrate the ability to follow through and complete their plan

4. Submit a detailed proposal and budget

5. Are 17 yrs. or older

Proposals are reviewed by the Executive Committee at Handwork. Handwork members will select the grant recipient. Payments will be made by Handwork to educational institutions, designated instructors, and suppliers.
