These earrings have an abstract design, accentuated with pure gold. The process for making the earrings involves cutting the shape from a copper sheet, firing layers of enamel in a kiln, and adding 24k gold leaf. I draw the design with a graphite pencil. Both sides of the earrings have been enameled. The ear wire is handmade from recycled sterling silver. The hypoallergenic niobium ear wire is available for this design.
I approach my craft with 15 years of experience using traditional and time-honored metalsmithing traditions in my upstate NY studio.
Caring for the environment is a keystone of my practice. I source my metals from companies that provide recycled material. Sourcing from sustainable companies that reclaim and process fine metals means that my materials are not newly mined, which makes for an eco-friendly practice.
