Colorful layers of enamel with 24K gold leaf and black stripes. Dangling from these enamel tops is hand-cut recycled sterling silver textured with an original design, adding movement to these earrings. The process for making the earrings involves sawing copper sheet, firing layers of enamel in a kiln, and adding 24k gold leaf. Backsides of the earrings are also enameled.
I approach my craft with 15 years of experience using traditional and time-honored metalsmithing traditions in my upstate NY studio.
Caring for the environment is a keystone of my practice. I source my metals from companies that provide recycled material. Sourcing from sustainable companies that reclaim and process fine metals means that my materials are not newly mined, which makes for an eco-friendly practice.
