Burgundy and Gold Leaf Beaded Earrings
Item Description:
These stunning earrings feature handmade lampwork glass beads by Julia Bonney. A swirl of white and rich burgundy is flecked with flakes of gold leaf embedded into each bead. Topped with a geometric gold bead and gold ear wires for an elegant finish.
About the Artist:
Julia Bonney has her own glass studio where she make beads from glass rods that come from Italy, Germany, China, and the U.S. Sitting at a torch that's about 3,000 degrees she melts, shapes, and decorates the glass, and then anneals her beads in a kiln overnight to make them strong and stable. She uses her beads to construct jewelry and to create beaded handles for objects such as jam spoons, cheese knives, and coffee scoops. She incorporates sterling silver chain and findings and sometimes semi-precious stones such as citrine, turquoise, lapis, and pyrite.
