Jewelry really comes alive when it is worn, and I always consider how a piece looks, feels, and moves with the
body. Design, texture, color, and most important, comfort are key elements in my work. My intention is to
create a visible way for you to honor the inner you through jewelry that feels good on and makes you feel good
wearing it.
I work out of my home in Ithaca, NY, and have been captivated with jewelry making since about 2009. Inspired by modern art, ancient artifacts, geology, geometry, and, of course, nature, I begin with a tabula rasa of sheet metal, wire, and the infinite potential of tools. I prefer to limit the interruptive sound of motors and machines to hand fabricate every piece. This induces a meditative focus during which I put a lot of attention and intention into what I am making. Experimentation keeps it fresh, fun, and ever evolving. I love and grow from the challenges and problem solving encountered during the creative process and enjoy transferring what I learn to new designs and techniques. Predominant in the imagery collection are the intricately cutout pieces, for which I use a small jeweler's saw to hand saw abstract or recognizable designs in brass, sterling silver, and copper. Because everything is handmade, slight variations do occur. As a result, each piece is one of a kind. In addition to the cutouts, you will find an array of designs that incorporate various traditional or experimental techniques, patinas, and paint as well as gemstones and other beads. New work is always on the horizon!
