Shirley Woodcock-Kolb

I am a silver and goldsmith who makes one-of-a-kind and original designs in jewelry. I became interested in my craft through my adventurous nature and the input from the many art teachers who fostered creativity and provided me with the opportunity to excel. I developed my distinctive filigree technique through experimentation, beginning with a silver baby cup that was given to me and that I recycled into a bracelet. My silver and gold also comes from a reputable refinery that was formerly located in New York State, and features Harmony recycled materials.
I incorporate fused glass, precious metal clay, stones and porcelain into my fabricated designs, and especially enjoy doing my own lapidary work. Although I have many standard designs, my work is always changing and progressing as I find myself drawn to new challenges.
I live in an old general store that my husband and I are restoring.  I was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of CNY and grew up on a farm exploring the territory on horseback. I have been a member of Handwork for more than 30 years. I joined Handwork to find a market for my work, and stayed because I found a diverse array of new friends and fellow artists.
