Scrappy Dog Etching

Item Description:

What a cute little scrappy dog! This unique etching is pulled by hand from a metal plate that is "etched" in an acidic bath. The plate is illustrated by the artist, etched in the bath, then coated with color where the paper is then set to receive the image on a rolling press. The process of rolling the paper and metal plate through the press may be repeated several times to achieve the desired layers of color. A labor of love!

About the Artist:

The images that Elizabeth creates come from her imagination. They are drawn on copper or zinc plates and etched in acid. The plates are rubbed with oil based inks and hand-printed. She writes stories and poems and illuminates them, and sometimes she illustrates stories that she hasn't even written yet!
