Pat Halpen has always loved to "make things." She remembers trying to "make things" with construction paper and glitter and glue when she was only 5. Her first job after High School was in a leather shop. No one there knew how to sew, so she made it up as she went along. She loved the process of figuring out how to put it all together. That was in 1970. Somehow, she's still doing it! Pat loves color and texture most of all so her work is now a combination of leather, tapestry and other materials. She thinks of it as a sort of painting.
Pat's bags are all one-of-a-kind. She plays with different colors, fabrics, leathers and combinations according to what is available at the time and where her mood takes her.
